On September 1, 2010 it was reported that Culp said its profits nearly doubled in the quarter ended Aug. 1 as sales climbed 22.9%. Total sales for the quarter were $55.9 million, compared with $45.5 million in the same quarter a year ago. Net income was $3.75 million, up from $1.88 million in last year's first fiscal quarter.
On August 31, 2010 it was reported that Simmons Bedding Company has named Tony Smith President of U.S. sales and Simmons Canada. Smith will report to Simmons CEO Gary Fazio and is responsible for all U.S. sales functions as well as the company's Canadian business unit. Paul Bognar, former Simmons Canada president, will report to Smith. Dominick Azevedo, executive Vice President of sales, is leaving Simmons, the company announced.
